What is “Chouna” “Hatsuri”?

釿(chouna) is a very simple primitive tool with a knife at the end of a bent handle like the one above.

In Japan, in the Yayoi period already, iron sauce was used, and wooden artifacts excavated from the ruins also have traces of hatsuri due to chouna.

A craftworker using a chouna of almost the same shape as the current thing is drawn in a picture scroll 700 years ago
