Plant Oil

Trees originally have wood oil. If this oil evaporates, trees become dry and withered and crack. Rubbing oil into the surface of wood will prevent it from becoming dry and make it last longer.

While there are many types of plant oils, they can be classified into drying oil, semi-drying oil, and non-drying oil. These different types of oils are used according to the intended use. For a wood coating, mainly drying and semi-drying oils are used.

Application methods

Method A

(1)Mix 1 liter of Chinese wood oil, perilla oil, linseed oil, or rapeseed oil (first squeeze) with 150 to 200 g of Bengara well.

(2)Apply with a solid brush.

(Rubbing it into the surface with a cloth before it dries will give the surface a luxurious finish with the clear wood grain and strong coating film.)

*Coating area: approx. 10 to 15 m² per one liter of plant oil and 200 grams of Bengara

Method B

(1)Knead Bengara well with undiluted kakishibu liquid and then mix well with Chinese wood oil, perilla oil, linseed oil, or rapeseed oil (first squeeze).

(2)Apply with a solid brush.

(Rubbing it into the surface with a cloth before it dries will give it a luxurious finish with the clear wood grain and strong coating film.)

*Coating area: approx. 10 to 15 m² per one liter of plant oil and 200 grams of Bengara kneaded with kakishibu

Note:

Since the cloth used to wipe plant oil in A and B can easily catch fire if left unattended, be sure to keep them in an airtight container or burn after use.
